Our Story

The Titaness team – a little about the mother and daughter pair, plus the significance of the Titaness theme

Who we are

We’re a mum and daughter duo from Northamptonshire in the UK. Both of us have a passion for mythology as well as a determination to beat anxiety back into its box. That’s why we chose Titaness for our blog, as a Titaness is a figure from Greek and Roman mythology that is strong and fierce, and of course female.

Meet the titanesses Soteria and Metis.

Soteria is the personification of safety and deliverance from harm. She’ll be writing about her personal battle with anxiety disorder, social phobia and depression. These debilitiating illnesses have turned her world upside down and inside out, but she’s determined that she will be herself once more, with a better understanding of her, how her mind works and that nothing can get in the way of her dreams and ambitions.

Metis is the embodiment of wisdom and wise counsel, and she helps Soteria navigate the treacherous waters of adolescence and anxiety. She’s been alongside Soteria every step of the way, but has experienced her fair share of lows and worries as she learnt new skills, new ways of thinking and worked to make the world a safe place for Soteria to be.

Here we are now

A year in, and nothing seems to stay the same. Right now, Soteria is enjoying the last few days of her summer hols, before returning to her online schooling for GCSE year.

We’re on the cusp on receiving a draft Education Health Care Plan, having applied finally in May 2020. Metis is still somewhat in shock that not only was the agreement to assess hurdle passed without incidence, but so was the agreement to issue a plan. One day, she’ll pick herself up off the floor and blog about the process…
